Sierra Lyn Summerville, MSW, LCSW, LCAS
Sierra comes to this work because of her passion for helping others seeking to improve their quality of life. She empowers the individuals she works with to take steps to grow, heal, and cultivate a life worth living. She works with people navigating many challenges including anxiety, depression, stress, substance use, and trauma.
Sierra has expertise in addictions and is a trained EMDR therapist. She provides individual therapy for people ages 12 and up. Her treatment approach incorporates multiple evidenced based types of psychotherapy including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and EMDR.
Before joining the Mood Treatment Center, Sierra worked as a clinician in various environments including public health settings with middle school youth and community mental health outpatient treatment with adolescents and adults with mental health and/or substance use concerns. She is passionate about human rights and social justice. She avidly seeks to create a supportive environment for individuals who identify as LGBTQ.
Sierra completed her Masters in Social Work at Appalachian State University and is a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist as well as a certified yoga instructor.
In her free time, she lives life to the fullest by enjoying her family, travelling, camping, riding bikes, running, cultivating friendships, and doing lots of yoga.
