Angela Estes, PMHNP
Pyschiatric Nurse Practitioner
It has been a lifelong desire and goal of mine to help those struggling with mental and behavioral health needs. Most of my childhood was spent in group homes, as my parents were teaching-parents in multiple homes for troubled children. This allowed me the opportunity to witness first-hand all the difficulties and unmet needs that go unaddressed in so many cases. I felt then it was my calling to help those who are hurting, suffering, and overlooked by the vast majority. It took some time to figure out how I could best accomplish this, so to get started I completed a BS in Psychology at Appalachian State University. Once I saw my purpose could best be served through nursing, I began my path to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, completing a BSN at Duke University and MSN through University of South Alabama. I now work as a PMHNP seeing patients of all ages, taking a wholistic approach to address all their mental health needs.
In my free time, I am learning to become a farmer. A few years ago, I transplanted 595 Fraser Fir Christmas trees, and have now ventured into animal farming. I am raising chickens, recently acquired a champagne gold horse, and am hoping milk cows and goats will accompany them in the near future. In addition to farming, my husband and I love classic cars and airstreams, and have multiple projects we are working on at all times!
