Hilary Puzak – PMHNP

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Hilary Puzak is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 18 years in the mental health industry and 10 years in substance abuse treatment. Her experience comes from residential, community, nursing, inpatient, and outpatient treatment settings. She started with an associate degree in Nursing from Sandhills Community College, immediately started working as a nurse on an inpatient psychiatric/detox unit, then received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. While attending the Medical University Of South Carolina, for her Masters and Doctorate of Nursing Practice, she worked as an Emergency Department nurse and in outpatient post-traumatic Stress treatment facility. Upon graduation, she provided psychiatric services in outpatient trauma, geriatric mental health, community mental health crisis stabilization and substance abuse treatment.

Her focus is on the treatment of mood disorders, trauma, psychotic disorders, substance abuse, attention-deficit hyperactive disorder, and chronic mental illness through psychiatric assessment, medication management and brief psycho-therapeutic intervention for persons aged 13-100. She believes in creating a comfortable environment, an individualized plan of care that values client involvement, inter-professional collaboration and evidence-based practice. She enjoys helping clients understand the how’s and why’s of the treatment plan. Her goal is for her patients to feel empowered, and achieve wellness in a stigma free environment.
