Jake Morris, LCMHC
Jake’s intention is to create a space where clients are able to recognize their own voice, understand their own power, and feel free to do so in an objective space. He attempts to help his clients listen to the messages they are receiving through their emotions, thoughts, and body and learn to trust their inner voice as well as reach for support from those in their community.

Jake was born in south Florida and moved to North Carolina in 2018. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in psychology and philosophy at Florida Southern College, he went on to complete his graduate Training at Troy University. Jake began his career in helping those who battle addiction and have experienced trauma. Tailoring his approach to your needs is an important goal for Jake, believing that each individual has a specific story.
What inspired you to go into therapy?
I was inspired to be a therapist by my interest in gaining a deeper understanding of one’s self and the world, an interest inspired by my love for philosophy. I was motivated by my own experiences in therapy and the joy I have gained in helping others complete their own healing process.
How do you manage stress in your own life?
I manage stress by doing the things I love most in life: playing basketball, listening to hip-hop, reading, spending time outdoors with friends, and caring for nature and animals.
What would you like clients to know before their first meeting?
I would like client’s to know that I recognize how vulnerability can be challenging, that this is not an advice giving session, you are the expert on you, and we are both humans on the same playing field at the end of the day. What you are thinking and feeling is valid and we are on the same team. I find sessions to be most helpful when it is a two way street, a conversation about you and your history that we can learn from.
