Kellie Newsome, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Kellie Newsome completed her advanced practice psychiatric training at the University of South Alabama. She takes a root-cause resolution approach to psychiatric symptoms. In addition to mental health, her professional interests include nutrition, natural treatments, and chronic health problems. She combines medication management, therapy, and wellness coaching to relieve distress, improve functioning, and help people move towards better lives.

Kellie grew up in Australia and came to the United States 20 years ago as a military wife. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UNC-Greensboro, and after working as an RN in Emergency Medicine and Nephrology became a Nurse Wellness Coach. That experience inspired her to continue her education in mental health and fine tune her talents and experience at the Mood Treatment Center.

Kellie can be heard on the Carlat Psychiatry Podcast, a weekly educational program that she hosts with Chris Aiken. She is currently a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA), EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), American Nurses Association (ANA), International Society of Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurses (ISPN), Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP), and the National Wellness Institute.
