This year, her single “All I Want for Christmas Is You” rose to #1 on the Billboard 100 for the first time since its 1994 release. That’s pretty good for a tune she wrote in a 15 minute burst of creativity. And it’s a rare accomplishment – the last time a Christmas song made it to #1 was 1958: The Chipmunk Song.
Mariah has adapted the song into a children’s book and animated film. “I’m a very festive person and I love the holidays,” says Carey. “I’ve sung Christmas songs since I was a little girl. I used to go Christmas caroling.”
