Sara Freeman, LCMHC
Sara practices Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidenced-based approach that may help individuals with a wide array of clinical problems. This therapy is based on the premise that our attempts to avoid, alter, or control our internal experiences often increase our suffering and interfere with our ability to pursue what really matters to us. By practicing mindfulness and acceptance, we can learn to observe and allow all elements of our experience. As we give up our struggle with our thoughts and feelings, we become free to choose behaviors that are based on deeply-held personal values.
Sara received her bachelor’s degree from Davidson College and completed her graduate training at UNC-Greensboro’s top-rated counseling program. She has a background in psychological research and has co-authored studies examining the benefits of mindfulness training.
Sara finds meaning and vitality in her work as a counselor, and in her free time she enjoys reading, practicing yoga, spending time in nature, and connecting with friends and family.
