Sophire Nelson, LCSW-A


Sophire provides therapy to individuals, children, teens and adolescents while also having meaningful experience working with those in the elderly population. Sophire uses strength-based approaches to build upon and cultivate one’s true self outside of their mental health identity. Sophire has years’ worth of mental health treatment with those who have experienced the following issues:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Trauma
  • Attention Deficit Disorders
  • Anger management difficulty.

Sophire uses a variety of treatment modalities such a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) , solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) family systems counseling, crisis intervention, mindfulness and relaxation techniques to assist her clients in moving beyond just coping with their symptoms. Sophire not only practices daily meditation and mindfulness within her own personal life but uses it to increase her client’s ability to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to manage interpersonal relationships thoughtfully and empathetically.

Sophire received her bachelor’s degree from North Carolina A&T State University and later graduated with her master’s degree from The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work in Southern California. Sophire takes pride in both her alma matters as North Carolina A&T is #1 in the top 10 HBCUs in the nation while USC is a top-ranked graduate school according to U.S. News & World Report. In her free time, Sophire enjoys spending time with her family outdoors, journaling, yoga practice, and play time with her 2 cats.
