Sophia Parrow

MSW, LCSW

Therapist

Professional Background

Sophia Parrow (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and graduate of the UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work. With more than 20 years of clinical experience, Sophia has worked with a wide range of adult populations and concerns — including survivors of sexual trauma and intimate partner violence, college students, military veterans, LGBTQ and transgender individuals, and people navigating substance use disorders. She brings a depth of perspective that comes from showing up consistently and thoughtfully across the full complexity of human experience.

Sophia provides individual therapy to adult clients via telehealth.

Specialties

Sophia's clinical interests include supporting survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual trauma, LGBTQ and gender identity concerns, substance use disorders, and navigating perimenopause and menopause. She also has experience helping adults move through life's transitions and stressors — the moments where everything shifts and you're figuring out who you are on the other side. Sophia is a trained Mindfulness Facilitator through the VA Calm program.

Approach to Treatment

Sophia works primarily from cognitive behavioral and ecological systems frameworks, and believes that effective therapy begins with understanding the whole person — not just the presenting concern. She partners with each individual to build a treatment plan that is personalized, collaborative, and responsive to their evolving needs.

Personal Note

Sophia lives in Durham, NC, and spends her time outside of work hiking and exploring the outdoors with her dogs.
