Deanna La, LCSW, C-DBT, MSW
Deanna (She/Her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been working in the field since 2017. Deanna received her MSW from UNC Charlotte and has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. She has worked in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as with those involved with the child welfare systems.
Deanna believes in meeting people where they are at in their journey and that when people have an enjoyable experience in therapy they will continue to put in the hard work to meet their goals. She also recognizes that therapy can be challenging, hard, and vulnerable, therefore she creates a safe space through laughter and fun. Deanna also believes in the importance of connection, building a solid relationship with clients, learning their interests and hobbies, and getting to know them for who they are. It can be easier to do hard things, with a little fun and support.
Deanna is a state rostered Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) clinician and certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She believes in integrating trauma informed practices, play and strength based approaches to help empower clients to be who they are and speak their truths.
Deanna identifies as an Asian American therapist, an ally to the LGBTQ+ communities, and also strives to be culturally aware. She also believes in making sure you take care of yourself before taking care of others. So in her free time, she enjoys eating delicious food and/or candy, a little bit of exercise, reading, crafting, playing video games, and watching t.v. with her partner and baby dog.
